Introduced more than two decades ago, the Subaru Legacy is the longest brand in the United States. With its all-wheel drive, Legacy is often chosen by consumers as an all-weather alternative vehicle in the midsize sedan or wagon segment.
The 2018 Subaru Legacy is only available as a sedan and sold in five trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Sport, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited.
The 2018 Subaru Legacy 2.5i is backed by a 2.5-liter, horizontally opposed four-cylinder (boxer) engine that puts out 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The 3.6R get a 3.6-liter six-cylinder that produce 256 hp and 246 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard.
In track testing, the 2018 Subaru Legacy accelerates to 60 mph from zero in slow 8.6 seconds. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the Legacy 2.5i at 29 mpg combined (25 city/34 highway), the 3.6R models are rated at 23 mpg combined (20 city/28 highway).
