Back to the old days when Cadillac big sedan was the car every American wanted. That’s a long time ago, but the Cadillac brand has been revived in recent years, and now has a large car worth considering, the Cadillac CT6. The 2018 Cadillac CT6 offers the space and features you expect from a large luxury sedan, but also offers good handling at a price below its main competition.
The 2018 Cadillac CT6 is a large luxury sedan sold in four trim levels: base, Luxury, Premium Luxury and Platinum.
The 2018 Cadillac CT6 base and Luxury trims are backed by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 265 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard.
There are two V6 engines available, both paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Optional on the base and Luxury trims, and standard on Premium Luxury and Platinum is a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. Optional for the Premium Luxury and Platinum is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 (called 3.0TT) engine good for 404 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
In track testing, the 2018 Cadillac CT6 Platinum 3.0TT hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, a good performance but still slower than a number of rivals, especially those with turbocharged V8 engines.
EPA fuel economy for the four-cylinder engine at 25 mpg combined (22 mpg city/31 mpg highway), the 3.6-liter V6 rated at 21 mpg combined (18 city/27 highway). The 3.0TT rated at 21 mpg combined (18 city/26 highway).
