The 2018 Buick Encore is a compact-crossover SUV sold in six trim levels: 1SV, Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence and Premium.
The 2018 Buick Encore 1SV and Preferred are powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine generating 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. The rest of trim gets a more powerful 1.4-liter engine produces 153 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic is the only transmission offered. All Encore models are offered with a choice of front or all-wheel drive.
In track testing, the 2018 Buick Encore FWD accelerated to 60 mph in 9.8 seconds, which is slower than most other crossovers in this price range. EPA fuel economy estimates for the base engine stand at 30 mpg combined (27 city/33 highway) with front-wheel drive and 28 mpg combined (26 city/31 highway) with all-wheel drive. The upgrade engine rated at 28 mpg combined (25 city/33 highway) with FWD and (27/24/30) with AWD.
